Maon Noam Khakhan Synagogue

Vaughan, York.
Preserving the historic synagogue through a building addition that enhances its role as a community hub.

The congregation of Maon Noam Khakhan Jewish Synagogue and Community Centre, located at 910 Rutherford Road in the City of Vaughan, sought to expand their historic one-storey synagogue with a proposed three-storey addition to better serve the needs of their growing congregation. The proposed expansion will feature community rooms, an expanded place of worship, and daycare facilities on the third floor.

To realize this vision, the congregation engaged LANDx Developments Ltd. to guide the Zoning By-Law Amendment and Site Plan Approval processes. The applications were submitted in December 2021 and deemed complete on January 28, 2022. Approval for the requested Zoning By-Law Amendment was granted on January 28, 2025, followed by Full Site Plan Approval on July 24, 2025. These entitlements have enabled the construction of this important community facility, which is now actively underway.
