Virgil is a growing village within the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake home to a 0.4-hectare / 1-acre property at 1320 Niagara Stone Road. The lot currently contains a 1-storey single-detached dwelling and is targeted for residential infill development. Approvals were obtained to develop three additional 2-storey single-detached dwellings fronting onto Niagara Stone Road, accessed via a new shared driveway. The existing dwelling will remain on the property and continue to use its driveway.
Ownership has retained LANDx Developments Ltd. to coordinate the planning and servicing approvals required to facilitate the proposed residential infill development. The Zoning By-law Amendment permitting the proposed development was approved on May 28, 2024. Consents to create the new residential lots were approved on July 19, 2024 and finalized on February 12, 2026. The project contributes to the Town’s housing supply by directing modest intensification to Virgil’s built-up area while maintaining the established character of the surrounding neighbourhood.
The village of Virgil is located within Niagara-on-the-Lake’s agricultural area and functions as a residential and community hub along Niagara Stone Road. Characterized by established single-detached neighbourhoods and local amenities, Virgil provides an important settlement area serving the surrounding agricultural lands.
